The goal of the eResidency Helen's dress was to faciliate the artists to imagine Vamvakou, since the covid-19 travel restrictions did not allow their physical presence.
our eResidency program was designed to refer to the impact impres- sions of 18th and 19th century Greece foreigner travellers had on their own countries. The eResidency program also reflected johann joachim Winckelmann's approach to classical antiquity. The German archaeologist, it is well known, never visited Greece, although he made a decisive contribution to the classicist movement in europe.
Thus, imagination can also bear fruits - as much as witnessing pre- sence - as we read in Goethe's and Hörderlin's poems; the poets wor- shiped Greece without ever having visited it. They triggered the rediscovery of "Greek aesthetics" - in art, architecture, fashion - and of democratic values in the enlightenment era.
using videos, teleconference, visual notes, live streaming, blog notes, as well as a strictly scheduled and intensive monitoring and coaching program, we were able to achieve a similar creative result to what we would have had if all participants were present. All we needed was a good internet connection and a room for us and our equipment.
The eResidency also enabled hundreds of people to attend selected team meetings via live streaming.
